TeamSync

For IT administrators

On-premise

The on-premise variant runs TeamSync for one company on its own server. This page explains what it needs and how licensing works.

Most customers use the TeamSync cloud, which hosts many Organizations. If your company needs to keep everything on its own network, ask Top Matrix about on-premise. The web app, the add-ins, Roles and Projects work the same way. The difference is where the data lives and how it is licensed.

#What on-premise means

An on-premise installation serves exactly one Organization, on a server you run. Your people, Projects and Issues stay on your own infrastructure.

#What you provide

  • A PostgreSQL server, version 13 or later, that every workstation can reach.
  • File storage for attachments and snapshots: either object storage that speaks the S3 protocol, or a shared folder that every workstation can read and write.
  • Windows 10 or later on the computers that run Revit and Navisworks.

Attachments and snapshots are not stored in the database.

#Installers

Top Matrix builds the add-in installers for you with your connection built in, so people install and start without typing server details. See Install the add-ins. The connection can also be set up or changed on each computer in Settings › Connection; it is saved encrypted for that Windows user.

#Licensing per computer

On-premise installs are licensed to one computer at a time, with a key that is checked on that computer. There is no License card with seats, as in the cloud.

  1. Get the request code

After installing, open Settings on the TeamSync tab in Revit or Navisworks, go to License and choose Copy request code. (The pane shows the same Activate TeamSync screen on a computer that is not activated yet.)

  2. Send it to Top Matrix

Send the code to whoever looks after your TeamSync licenses, or to info@top-matrix.com.

  3. Enter the key

You receive a license key. Paste it into License key and choose Activate. See Settings and About.

Careful

A key works only on the computer it was made for. After a motherboard replacement, a Windows reinstall or reformatting the system drive, you need a new key. Renaming the computer does not.

#Password reset needs email

People who forget their password get a reset code by email. That needs your server to be set up with SMTP settings. Without them, reset by email is not available.
