TeamSync

Settings and About

The Settings and About buttons on the TeamSync tab: choose the connection this computer uses, activate its license, and find the version and the logs when you need help.

Both buttons are in the Settings panel of the TeamSync tab, in Revit and in Navisworks. Settings opens the TeamSync settings window, with Connection, License and About down the side. Nothing you change is kept until you choose Save; Close asks whether to discard unsaved changes.

#Connection

The connection says where TeamSync keeps Issues for this computer. Most people never touch it: the installer you were given already contains your company’s connection, and the page shows it under Profile with its Type, server and how it Signs in with.

TypeUsed forWhat you enter
TeamSync cloudOrganizations on the TeamSync cloudServer address, and Web address (optional).
PostgreSQLAn on-premise installation on your company’s own serverServer, Port, Database, Database user and Database password, or Paste a full connection string instead. Sign in with Windows (integrated security): nothing is stored uses your Windows account instead of a database password. A File storage folder is needed when the installation has no object storage.
  1. Open Settings

On the TeamSync tab, choose Settings. Connection is the first page.

  2. Add or change a connection

Choose New… to add one, or pick it under Profile and choose Edit…. Give it a Name, choose its Type and fill in the fields, then choose OK. Delete removes a connection and its saved password.

  3. Save

Choose Save. If you switch to another connection while signed in, TeamSync asks first, because switching connection signs you out: choose Sign out and switch. Then restart Revit or Navisworks to connect, and sign in there.

Note

Connections are saved encrypted for your Windows account on this computer. A saved database username or password is never shown again, only replaced with Change; a password inside a pasted connection string is taken out and kept separately, encrypted. Another Windows user on the same computer, or an older TeamSync version, cannot read the saved connections.

#License

What the License page shows depends on the connection.

  • TeamSync cloud: there is nothing to activate. The page says a cloud connection is licensed through your organization: your Organization’s License covers everyone in it.
  • PostgreSQL (on-premise): each computer needs its own license. The page says whether this computer is activated, and until when.

To activate a computer for an on-premise connection:

  1. Copy the request code

On the License page, choose Copy request code under Request code for this computer.

  2. Send it

Send the code to whoever gave you TeamSync. They send back a license key for this computer.

  3. Paste the key and activate

Paste it into License key and choose Activate. The page then says Activated for this computer. A computer that already has a working license is not asked again.

Careful

A license key belongs to one computer. Replacing the motherboard or reinstalling Windows needs a new key; see On-premise.
