Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions people ask most about TeamSync.
Where do I create an Issue?
In Revit or Navisworks, with + in the TeamSync pane. The web app has no create button: it is for following, discussing and managing Issues. See Raise an Issue in Revit.
Which versions of Revit and Navisworks work?
Revit 2023 to 2026, and Navisworks Manage or Simulate 2023 to 2026, on Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. See Install the add-in.
Do I need a separate account for the add-in?
No. Use the email and password you use on the web. The sign-in is shared by Revit and Navisworks.
How do I join my company's Organization?
A General Manager invites you by email. Open the link in the invitation, choose a password, and sign in. The link works once and for 7 days.
What makes a password acceptable?
At least 8 characters, an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number, and not the name part of your email address.
I forgot my password. What now?
Choose Forgot your password? on the sign-in page or in the add-in. You get a 6-digit code by email. It works once, for 20 minutes.
What is the difference between a Department and a Discipline?
A Department groups people by trade. A Discipline is the trade an Issue belongs to. Neither grants permissions by itself. See Concepts.
Why does a colleague see different Issues from me?
Issue Visibility. Each Project Member sees all of a Project's Issues, their Department's, or only their own. See Roles.
What does Resolved mean?
The assignee says the work is done. The author then verifies it and closes the Issue. Resolved still counts as open on the Dashboard.
What is the difference between archiving and deleting?
An archived Issue or Project is set aside but stays readable and is kept indefinitely. A deleted one is removed from every view and can be restored for 90 days, then it is gone for good.
Can I restore a deleted Issue?
A deleted Issue can be restored for 90 days. Deleting and restoring Issues are not offered in the web app or the add-ins at this release; archive Issues instead, and write to info@top-matrix.com if one must be removed or brought back.
Why does a Project I deleted still count against the Project Limit?
Every Project that still exists counts, whether active, archived or deleted. A General Manager can delete a Project permanently to free the slot at once.
How are Issues numbered?
Within their Zone: Tower #1, Tower #2 and so on. Moving an Issue to another Zone gives it the next number there.
How do I mention someone?
Type @ in a comment and pick the person. They are notified and can open the Issue. Mentions are never muted.
Can I link to another Issue or a model element in a comment?
Yes. In the add-in, type # in a comment to link another Issue of the Project or to pick an element in the model. Clicking the reference later finds the element.
How do I stop getting pop-ups about an Issue?
Open it, choose Following, then Mute. Updates still arrive in the bell, silently.
What happens when my Organization's License ends?
The Organization becomes read-only: people can read but not change anything, until the License is renewed.
Can Top Matrix staff see my Projects?
Not by default. A General Manager can grant Support Access for a limited time. Technical Support can then only read, and every request is recorded in the Organization log. See Support Access.
Does TeamSync work offline?
No. The add-in needs a connection to your Organization's server.
Where do I find the add-in logs?
In %LocalAppData%\TopMatrix\RevitTeam\logs\. Send them to info@top-matrix.com when you ask for help.
More help is in Troubleshooting.
